Uncle Henry's Organics
Uncle Henry’s one of the most premier certified organic produce farms in the South East, family owned and operated grower, packer, shipper offering a wide variety of fruits and vegetables year- round. Uncle Henry Organics is located in Rose Hill, NC and is run by brothers Owen and Vernon Rouse and they have been growing vegetables their whole lives, and their farm is named after their grandfather’s brother, who loved fruits and vegetables. The farm has been in the Rouse family since the 1950s, Owen and Vernon being the second generation on this land. They became certified OG in 2012-13 and have grown to over 650 acres of certified-organic production. They are certifying an additional 200 by the end of 2022. Owen and Vernon employ local labor. The quality/packing team has been run by the same person for years, which is a testament to how Owen and Vernon run the farm operation. They also pay their farm employees full time year round, even if there isn’t enough work in the winter.Cut the tops off to keep beets firm, (be sure to keep the greens!) by leaving any top on root vegetables draws moisture from the root, making them loose flavor and firmness. Beets should be washed and kept in and open container with a wet towel on top.
