With a dream to live in the country, smell the fresh air and see the stars at night, Tom Beddard founded Lady Moon Farms in 1988 with his wife Christine on five acres in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. A city kid born and raised in Pittsburgh, from an early age Tom enjoyed gardening in his parent's backyard and went on to study horticulture at Delaware Valley College. It was during his time that he started to think differently about conventional agriculture practices. The question he struggled with was: "Why spray chemicals on the food you were going to eat and into the soil of the earth?
Lady Moon Farms takes sustainability seriously. Organic farming is more than just growing vegetables without pesticides. It is about letting nature lead, building healthy soils, biological diversity and social justice. As Lady Moon Farms has grown over the years, they have never lost sight that growing great food requires passion and perseverance. Being truly sustainable means more than just not using harmful chemicals. They incorporate many different practices with a promise to put more into the soil than we take out, ensuring a healthier Earth for our future.
Lady Moon has locations in Chambersburg, PA, Punta Gorda, Immokalee, and Loxahatchee, Florida and Bainbridge, Georgia. With these locations, Lady Moon Farms is able to provide year-round availability on most of their products while remaining fanatical about freshness! They move with the seasons which also allows us to keep our workforce employed year round.
